WHAT IS MENT-A-TECH™? |

Ment-A-Tech™ is an educational / career guidance system which directly addresses the circular problem faced by virtually everyone who has ever tried to select a profession - or a specialty / practice context within a profession; to change professions; and to succeed in the chosen profession/practice context: The need to know what a career is like, from a day-to-day, bottom-to-top perspective, in order to determine if it's the same "on the inside" as it appears from the "outside" - a frame of reference which typically comes only from "on-the-job" experience - confounded by a lack of ability to get "on-the-job" experience, without first committing time, money, and effort to substantive / academic study - just to qualify to apply for "entry level" positions. All of which too often culminates in the realization that the "inside" view is not particularly appealing, after all. Put otherwise: It is well said that one can best understand another's life by walking a mile in the other's shoes - but this requires another who is willing to share shoes - i.e., a tips, techniques, and professional skills mentor. Ment-A-Tech™ is a focused educational and career guidance tool which lets participants virtually "walk a mile" in the presented professional career / field. It is an informal but expertly crafted forum which brings to those who attend, professionals who: have achieved a meaningful level of success in the fields presented; are gifted in being able to explain both the magnificent and mundane aspects of their professions; who continue to be directly or indirectly active/participating in these fields; who know the "tips" and the "trips" of their fields; and - most importantly - are willing to share these with those who want to learn them; i.e, highly qualified and skilled mentors of law practice and its collateral professions. Ment-A-Tech's™ format is simple and decidedly effective: Those who are "doing," explain: how they got where they are; what it means in their personal and business lives to be there - including trade-offs made and benefits obtained; what they believe will be there in the future; what they would do differently if they could do it again; and what they - and their colleagues - look for in those who would enter the gates of their fields. Having given this insight, in an interactive presentation format, questions are taken, with response and commentary. When applicable, recommendations and suggestions for academic / practicum training, clerkships, and job search pointers are made. Ment-A-Tech™ is a dynamic, interactive, and dramatically effective corollary to academic schooling and practicum training; a new guidance paradigm, with emphasis on the techniques and technicalities of "traditional" law and its collateral professions / career fields.
